A young man lived across the street from the Lingen (Germany)
railyard. His family home was a holdover from the heart of
the industrial revolution ... a true "railwayman's house"
situated across the street from the railroad facility.
A couple generations later saw the end of an era. As the rail
facility was overcome by modern life, buildings were torn
down, cranes were removed and parking lots paved over the
hallowed ground. The young man watched in sad disbelief as
the wrecking ball demolished many of the amazing things that
he used to clearly observe from his window. As the razing
raged on, he decided to preserve history. His passion for the
Lingen yards led him to document the entire yard and buildings.
His work has been hailed by historians, museums as well
as the mayor of Lingen. This work preserving the history
of the Lingen facilities led to his career choice ...
So, Archistories tell an "architectural history" borne from
the Lingen rail yards. Archistories is a small company
based in Hannover, Germany. Business operations officially
began in 2009. A new take on building kits from the point
of view of an architect ... the new take being using a
rigid "architectural grade" cardboard and employing laser
cutting technology. The end result is a high quality kit
with bright filigree details and amazing strength.
